Do you have a student who really struggles with math? Read up on the symptoms of dyscalculia to learn more about this learning disability. Also, read a guest post at Kids Math Teacher where a parent talks about her son's dyscalculia diagnosis.
The following videos describe more:
I was a student that struggled with math! I wasn't diagnosed until the end of grade 10 after years and years of frustration. Dyscalculia is a tricky disability and I'm glad that it is getting a little more attention. I'm 38 years old and know for a fact that none of my teachers knew anything about it when I was in school. I coped, learned strategies and made it through. I am an elementary school teacher now, but I remember back to when I thought I was "dumb" too.
