Dinosaur Pop-Up Book

Wow. Dino-rific!!!

You're recall that just a few weeks ago, ds8 was really struggling with the illustrations for the pop-up book he was writing. We took several weeks off for Christmas. I think the holiday must have flipped some kind of artistic switch; when my son returned to working on his book this week, he didn't ask for (or need!) any kind of artistic guidance. He immediately plunged in and finished the remainder of illustrations. Alone! And better than what he accomplished with me.

We'll "publish" his book here. He'd welcome your comments. :)

Intro page (not shown) reads: Triceratops is a very interesting dinosaur.

Final page (not shown) reads: Triceratops is a fun dinosaur to learn about.

Meet the Author: [The author] has two energetic brothers and sisters and a lazy dog. Born in **** in ****, he plays basketball with his older brother, ****, who is 14. His younger brother, ****, who is four, is crazy. Two of [the author's] favorite games are Rat-a -Tat Cat and Settlers.

Thanks for reading!!! ;)

P.S. You might be interested in this...  We recently talked about "lollypop trees" and had a mini-lesson on drawing trees. He loved the lesson and was very motivated to try drawing more realistic trees. I'm thrilled...and a bit amused (haven't said a word!) at the results. (see above!)

  4. Fantastic job. The drawings are so skillfully done.
I loved the labeled diagram that explained all of the dinosaur parts.
Also, I enjoyed the way the book had some two dimensional pages, and some 3-D. Congratulations!
